We spoke to the Founder of Jenkins Associates, Alister Jenkins
Please tell us a little bit about you the person (not you the business owner): I am a father of 3 small people, distinctly average golfer and proud Yorkshireman......now living in Surrey!
Describe your business in less than 30 words: Jenkins Associates is the antithesis of every big search firm. We advise CEOs and HRDs. We place CPOs, Heads of HR, Senior HRBPs, Reward, Recruitment and Talent professionals. HR Search: Boldly Better
What industry or sector does your business fall in to?: Executive Search/HR Consulting
What did you do before you started your business?: Ran search firms for others.
What have been the biggest struggles that you have encountered, and what did you do to overcome them?: Branding and messaging (outside of word of mouth). I have also struggled to find similar companies in different specialisms with a similar ethos to be able to recommend to clients. Trying to expand the network with other founders through Legacy Club.
Have you had any external investment to date?: No
Do you have any business hero's, if so, who are they?: Not particularly. I see some things I like in many business leaders but no one has hero status....yet.

What was the last book you read?: Seven brief lessons on physics.
Tell us something totally unique about your business: Me! I operate in a crowded marketplace. I have worked 'in house' and as a consultant. The differentiator with my business is that my clients get me for everything. No junior recruiters, no researchers. Small by design. Plus, my wife is in HR so our work chat is always relevant!
Finally, please tell us what we can look forward to with your business in the next 12 months.: I am getting more requests for international searches. This is always exciting and opens up new candidates, clients and opportunities.
