We spoke to Lee Godwin, COO of mental wellbeing experts Emplomind.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself: Father of 2 girls who is driven to deliver them a upbringing different from the one I had.

Passionate about Mental Health due to supporting a family member with Borderline Personality Disorder and this passion blurs the lines between my personal life, work-life and volunteer work.

Describe your business in less than 30 words: Breaking down barriers to mental health support by delivering on-demand counselling & coaching into workplaces of all shapes and sizes.

What industry or sector does your business fall in to?: HR Tech

What did you do before you started your business?: 15+ years in Commercial roles

What have been the biggest struggles that you have encountered, and what did you do to overcome them?: One of the biggest challenges I have faced is to delegate and let others take ownership.

In order to do this I have had to become more comfortable with letting people fail and learn, including myself.

Have you had any external investment to date?: Yes

What has been the impact of COVID-19 on your business and did you make any changes, or pivots?: Business was launched in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic, but we are constantly looking to evolve and adapt. Change has been the constant for the last 3 years.

Do you struggle with, or have you found any of the following barriers to your business growth?: People & Talent, Access to finance/funding, Leadership Capacity

Do you have any business hero's, if so, who are they?: More senior leaders I have previously worked with who showed strong values related to people, even through challenging times.
